With over half of Gen Z prioritizing their avatars’ looks over real-world clothing, the platform’s influence is undeniable. Zeeman, known in the Netherlands for affordable essentials, contrasts with Roblox’s digital fashion, where players spend heavily on virtual outfits.

Insight

We saw an opportunity amid the high spending on virtual fashion in Roblox, and introduced an alternative that challenges the ‘new norm’ and emphasizes the value of simplicity.

Idea

We launched “Basics On Top” in Roblox, opening the first virtual Zeeman store and teaming up with four Roblox streamers to rally our community for the flash mob in high-fashion lands. We also offered limited edition basics to all gamers, both for free and at the most affordable prices. This move sparked a nationwide discussion about the value of basic wear, challenging the high-spending trend virtually.
